Atenolol is a cardio selective beta blocker used in the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction.

It should be taken orally.

Atenolol is a competitive cardioselective β1-blocker and does not have effect on β2-receptors except in high doses. It reduces resting and exercise-induced heart rate as well as myocardial contractility.

Should be taken in patients with history of
• Inadequate cardiac function,
• Heart failure,
• Bronchospastic disease
• Diabetes mellitus
• Hyperthyroidism
Report to the physician if the patients are allergic to the active ingredients and any other drugs.
It may mask the symptoms of hypoglycaemia and hyperthyroidism, cause heart failure in some patients.

Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, sinus bradycardia, sinus node dysfunction, heart block >1st degree, compensated cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock, bronchospastic diseases, peripheral vascular diseases

Report to the physician immediately if the patients are having any of these following symptoms:
• Bradycardia
• Hypotension
• Oedema
• Dizziness
• Sweating
• Fatigue
• Insomnia
• Lethargy
• Confusion
• Mental impairment
• Depression
•Headache
• Constipation
• Diarrhoea
• Nausea

If allergic to any food, please consult with the physician.

Consumption of alcohol is not advisable.

Pregnancy Category: D
